Field News 3

Hello everyone,

With the sun out and a great weekend on the horizon we thought we would take the time to share with you a few of our favourite new acts to play at #FVF2015.

If you haven’t heard of The Mouse Outfit then your in for a real treat. Their latest album ‘Step Steadier’ has been stated as being one of the best hip hop albums in 2015. The band started out in manchester with just Defty and Chini and grew organically as they came across like minded and talented individuals. Their acclaimed debut album won UK hip hop album of the year 2013 (Wordplay Magazine) and was ranked in ABC News top 50 albums of 2013. Their reputation as a high quality live act resulted in two invitations to perform at the BBC’s legendary Maida Vale Studios in London.

Up next is Southampton based producers John Neenan and Cameron Jenkinson playing as South Royston.

The pair hit the ground running in 2014 with a remix for Bmkltsch Records and then on Ministry of Sound’s very own HK Records with the summer anthem “Unfamiliar ground. Shortly after the bass-heavy Bad Format and Another Night were released on Four40 Records, with all tracks gaining support from a variety of Radio 1, 1XTRA and KISS FM DJs. 2015 is already looking like a manic year, with a jam-packed gig and release schedule already, including a single release on the mighty Armada Deep.

Adding something different to the roster are Lux Lisbon who we are very excited about. Lux Lisbon formed at Nottingham University before moving to London where the 4-piece craft cinematic and harmony-laden indie from their tag-team boy-girl vocals, and the influence of Dog is Dead, Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Springsteen and Bloc Party, if thats not enough to get you dancing we don’t know what will.

They’ve also made their Get Some Scars EP freely available to distribute widely to whoever wants to listen, just click here!

We’re very pleased to announce that Kid Wave will be making an appearance as well. A four piece boy/girl group that are making incredible noise right now and gathering a lot of attention, Kid Wave are craft slacker indie rock and transcendental dream-laden pop of a distinctly early 90s bent music to lose yourself in and give your life to. The NME is quoted to have said their like ‘Lush on diazepam’ which is high praise indeed. 2014 saw Kid Wave playing shows with The Wytches, TOY, The Orwells, Childhood and more recently with Jimi Goodwin, Bully and Palma Violets . In autumn 2014 they recorded Wanderlust at the magical analogue wonderland that is Eve Studio in Stockport with producer Dan Austin

There debut album ‘Wanderlust’ is a must listen so grab yourself a copy NOW!

Finally we have Goodnight Lenin, a West Coast Americana five-piece who formed in the West Midlands in 2011. An independent outfit with an old school attitude to music, the band celebrate the DIY ethic of the late 80s / early 90s grunge approach and combine with influences including Neil Young, Jonathan Wilson, and Wilco.

In April 2014 Goodnight Lenin completed their Record Store Day project, for which they recorded, mixed and mastered two Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young covers (Almost Cut My Hair and Helpless) between Birmingham’s analogue Highbury and digital Artisan Audio studios, in just 24 hours. These were released in a super limited run of 24 7″ records which sold out on the day.

Their eagerly anticipated debut album ‘In The Fullness of Time’ was released on 29th November via Static Caravan which received notable air time on BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio 2 and XFM to name a few. Goodnight Lenin are currently touring the album before hitting the festival season where they’ll perform at Glastonbury, Wilderness & Moseley Folk.

We’ve also added many many more amazing bands to the line up so check the new poster and the news post for more information and updates on our bands and artists playing at #FVF2015.
